My TEDx talk: ‘Everyday ways to love a struggling body’

Are you living in a struggling body? For those of us with chronic health conditions, and specifically autoimmunity, it is common (and completely understandable), to feel like our bodies are in a constant state of conflict. We are literally under attack from within. It can be incredibly tough going sometimes. If this is you - I'm sending you a humungous virtual hug!

I also want to offer an alternative perspective. One of the hands-down highlights of my 2023 was preparing for and giving my TEDx talk, 'Everyday Ways to Love a Struggling Body'. Sometimes I still can't quite believe it really happened! The evidence is undeniable though...

The power of a change in perception can be extraordinary. Honestly, speaking for myself, much as I used to laugh and joke about my malfunctioning body - looking at it differently feels so much better. The theme of the event, 'The Power of Kindness', is a very powerful one. It took me a long time to learn to treat myself with anything like the level of kindness I had always shown to others by default.

While this talk is mostly about my personal story, it is of course informed by everything I have learned as a coach and applied in my own life, as well as what I see working well with clients - who all obviously have lives and circumstances very different to mine.
