Can I choose a different combination of services if none of the package options fit my needs?

Absolutely! The above are examples, to give you an idea of the types of services I provide. There is a great deal of flexibility in how we design your programme of support. You are the expert in your school and your team.

Are you one of those out of touch training providers who left the classroom years ago and still thinks they know what we need?

No! I mean I did leave the classroom in 2013, so in that sense yes to that part - but a definite no to assuming that I'm the all-knowing expert when it comes to exactly what you and your staff want and need.

My job as a coach is to ask, and to listen - not to direct. From a position of open curiosity, I develop a deep understanding of where my clients are - and of what you actually want. We then work together to formulate a realistic plan to put you on a path in that direction.

What happens if a member of staff is in crisis?

It is shocking how often this situation arises. This is one of the reasons that meaningful and comprehensive wellbeing support for all staff in schools is critical.

It is important to be clear that I am not a therapist, counsellor or any other type of mental health provider.

I am, however, certified in First Aid for Mental Health. This means that I have specific training around how to best support those in crisis - including holding supportive conversations, and signposting them to appropriate resources if required.

Any such conversations (as with any private coaching interaction) are confidential.

No mental health or other personal concerns raised with me by any individual staff member will be shared with any members of the leadership team or other members of staff, unless the individual concerned has provided explicit consent to do so - excepting in the case of an immediate emergency.

What qualifies you to do this work?

I am a fully-qualified former teacher with a decade of experience, which means I have some understanding of the realities of life in UK schools.

I am also an ADAPT-Certified Functional Health Coach, a Functional Nutrition Counsellor, and a UK & International Health Coaches Association Registered Health Coach.

My professional association registration ensures that my original training was of high quality, and that I engage in continuous professional development in order to maintain the standards required.

I have undertaken a wide range of additional learning and training covering topics such as:

First Aid for Mental Health
menopause
endometriosis
ADHD
autism
depression and anxiety

I am bound by the Scope of Practice of the UK & International Health Coaches Association - which you can see HERE.

Do you offer wellbeing support for children?

The short answer is yes, mainly for primary school children - though this is not my leading offer in terms of services for schools.

This is in large part because I strongly believe that the best way to teach real self-care skills to children, is to give teachers and other school staff real-life experience of building positive habits into their own lives.

The self-care behaviours modelled by staff matter, and as we all know - adults in schools invariably take everything they learn into the classroom with them!
